Chess is not just a game, it is a royal strategy.

At King’s Gambit 25, we organize a unique series of chess tournaments held four times a year, each of which is an important step on the way to compete with the best chess players in the country. Each tournament is designed to help participants develop and prepare for the major events of the year. Here is the schedule and features of each stage:

  1. First stage — March 4: Open tournament

Date: March 4

Place: Ostrava

Place: Online (or specify the location, if available)

Participants: 200 players of any level

Contribution: 5 euros

Prize for the winner: 10000 euros

Description: The first stage is an open tournament in which chess players of any level can participate. This is an opportunity for beginners and experienced players to showcase their skills and prepare for the next tournaments. Thanks to the democratic contribution, this tournament is available to everyone. The winner will receive 100 euros and continue his journey to the finals.

  1. Second stage — June 26: Summer tournament in Ostrava

Date: June 26

Place: Ostrava

Participants: open to all

Contribution: 5 euros

Prize fund:

1st place — 10000 euros

2nd place – 5000 euros

3rd place – 3000 euros

Description: The summer tournament is not only an opportunity to prepare for important competitions, but also a chance for participants to test their strength in practical conditions. The contribution remains affordable and the prize pool provides additional motivation for players. The winners receive financial rewards, which can be a good incentive for further development in chess.

  1. The third stage — October 24: Tournament to the final

Date: October 24

Place: Brno

Place: Online (or specify the location)

Participants: Limited to 100 participants

Contribution: 5 euros

Prize for the winner: 10000 euros

Description: This is a tournament that aims to determine the leaders and prepare the players for the decisive competition in December. Participants compete for a prize fund of 500 euros for the first place. Based on the results of this stage, we will determine the favorites who will fight for victory in the final. This is not only an opportunity to win prizes, but also a chance to prepare psychologically for the most difficult matches.

  1. Final stage — December 21: Fight for the title

Date: December 21

Place: Prague

Place: Online or specify the location

Participants: Only the best chess players from all stages

Description: The final stage is the culmination of the whole year. Only the best players from the previous tournaments get to the finals, where they will compete for the title of the best chess player. This stage will determine who can become the champion and rise to the top of chess mastery.

You can register right now for any of these tournaments. After registration, your application will be reviewed and if you are accepted, you will be sent a letter.

 

The referees for the King’s Gambit 25 tournaments are a team of high-class professionals with extensive experience in chess and refereeing. They not only ensure the fairness and transparency of the competition, but also add a high level of organization to the tournaments, creating an atmosphere of true chess mastery.

Our judges are people who have themselves achieved significant success in chess or have many years of experience in judging international tournaments. They keep a close eye on every move, ensuring that every match is played according to the rules, and making adjustments when necessary.

Composition of the judging team

Viktor Laznička is a Czech grandmaster and one of the best chess players in the country, who has repeatedly worked as a judge at prestigious international competitions. He has a deep understanding of the game and the ability to evaluate each move from a strategic point of view. Viktor brings to the tournaments impeccable integrity and experience that only the best players in the world can boast of.

Petro Leko is a Hungarian grandmaster who has many years of experience in chess championships. His participation in the tournament as a referee is an important factor for the participants, because Petro not only has great chess intuition, but also has experience of refereeing in international tournaments.

Lukas Kavalek is a well-known Czech chess player who actively participates in refereeing competitions at the national and international levels. His understanding of the game at the highest level, attention to detail and ability to work with chess players of all levels make him an important member of our judging team.

Jan Kryvanek is a Czech grandmaster with many years of experience as a player and referee. Ian has earned a reputation as an uncompromising judge who knows how to be objective and fair in any situation.

Other judges – The team of judges also includes professionals from different countries who are highly qualified and have extensive experience in chess. They ensure that every stage of the tournament runs smoothly and decisions are always made based on clear rules and fairness.

The role of judges at the tournament

Judges not only monitor the correctness of the moves, but also help create an atmosphere in which each participant can feel confident and focused. They monitor the time on the clock, ensure a level playing field for all participants, and resolve controversial moments with their professional judgement. Judges also act as mentors, giving advice and guidance to chess players after the competition.
